Implementation of AeroParker at PANYNJ

Overview
The PANYNJ chose our core product for John F Kennedy International (JFK), Newark Liberty International (EWR), LaGuardia (LGA) and Stewart International Airports (SWF) for a minimum 6-year contract period. The group has approx. 34,000 spaces and have recently launched an online booking system across JFK, EWR and LGA airports with the objective of growing car park income and increasing market penetration.

Key challenges
• Launching a major online booking system for the first time at 3 of the 20 largest US airports.
• Coordinate the wider teams and associated work streams to launch the PANYNJ online strategy on time and under budget.
• Develop a pre-book product suitable for car lots where the barrier system doesn’t support pre-book.

Implementation highlights
We successfully launched the online booking system for JFK, EWR and LGA ahead of schedule and within budget. Pre-book parking went live at LGA in Feb ‘18, followed by EWR and JFK in April ‘18.

AeroParker managed the relationships with the PARCS provider at LGA to ensure pre-book parking went live at Terminal B, the only car lot where appropriate barrier equipment had been fully integrated. The barrier equipment didn’t support the license plate recognition (LPR) entry method at time for go live, so we opted for QR code on initial launch to allow go live on time and added LPR 6 week later.

The team successfully managed the PANYNJ IT Department and the Payment Service Provider, so to launch a pre-book solution for those car lots without appropriate barrier equipment. As part of this task, we developed new functionality that supports the reservation of premium bays prior to arriving on airport and paying on exit. This allowed for the PANYNJ to start building its digital footprint prior to other project milestones being achieved.

Initial Results
Initial results are promising, generating more than $600,000 income for parking even though the number of parking lots available for pre-booking is still quite limited. We have also seen a steady increase in traffic and conversions as PANYNJ customers become aware of the new options to pre-book that are available. We expect the level of bookings and revenue to increase substantially over the next 6 months as new barrier equipment is installed across the car lot estate at each airport.
